The last two weekends I have had the pleasure of hanging out with 8 nieces and nephews. Larissa’s brother and his wife just had twins, so we made the trek down to the ATL to see them and throw some bows in the process. They were amazing, super cute, and only days old at the time. I’ll admit, I totally have a baby dropping phobia. Luckily my fears were not realized and no babies were harmed in the process. And even though they were very cool, they seemed to be working their parents to the bone with all the feedings and lack of a sleep schedule. As a result, Larissa and I both agreed that we were ok not doing that for a year or three.
This week my sister-in-law, Heidi, had surgery. So, to help her and her husband out we took on all 6 of her kids along with my other brother-in-law and his wife. Micah and I took the guys and played some Bball in Smyrna, while Larissa and Ashley took the ladies and did girl things at my house. After some hangout time, a few drum lessons, and a trip to the zoo, I can tell you that these kids are so cool. Super-intelligent and well-behaved. That said, when their powers combine (Captain Planet), they are a handful based on their number alone. I’m officially impressed with the skills their parents have. I know I couldn’t do it.
In conclusion, I do like other people’s kids. One day when Larissa and I are ready, we will have some of our own…
Gotta love that free birth control the last two weekends!
When we got married 35 years ago, I did not even want children. Love changes all…
